Senior Audit Instructor – Peter C. Melvin, Ph.D.

Peter Melvin is a manager at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in Atlanta, GA. Peter joined Deloitte in 2005 and is a member of the Financial Services Industry team. Peter has worked extensively in various aspects of the financial markets including the analysis of embedded options, stock options, stock appreciation rights, warrants, convertible preferred stock, common stock, core deposits, convertible debt instruments, asset management fees, brokerage fees, financial product marketing, and middle and back office administration for numerous financial assets and products.

Prior to joining Deloitte Financial Advisory Services Peter worked in Transfer Pricing, founded a financial economics consulting firm, and was a tenured Associate Professor of Finance and Economics focusing on financial management, investment analysis, and options and futures markets. Peter has worked for large mutual fund firms, numerous private and public financial institutions, REITs, and a large commodity exchange. In addition, Peter published numerous academic articles, performed litigation research, and provided research to numerous financial publications including the Wall Street Journal and Smart Money. Peter also made numerous academic and client presentations and is currently involved in a series of derivatives presentations.

Peter’s education includes a Ph.D in Financial Economics and International Finance from Clemson University, a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from Clemson University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Florida State University. He is a member of the American Finance Association and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) candidate.
